After over 25 years of consecutive Arbor Day Celebrations and spring tree plantings, the Covid-19 pandemic suspended the 2020 Arbor Day Celebration held traditionally the 4th Saturday of April, and the annual spring planting.

The Beaver Shade Tree Commission consisting of Phil Colavincenzo (jp.cola@verizon.net), Tim Stancec (timstancec@aol.com) and Nancy Lonnett Roman (nroman@pashekmtr.com) invite all Beaver residents or others desiring to plant a memorial tree in honor of a loved one in Beaver to contact us about tree planting during the spring of 2021.

Some of you may have experienced damage or total destruction of some of your trees during the recent winds which blew through Beaver on the last Friday of May and more recently early June. Those of you who agreed contingent to the removal of the damaged trees to replant in the spring of 2021, we urge you to contact us and seek our input in helping you choose an appropriate tree for your replanting.

The replanting program utilizes Beaver Borough’s ability to purchase trees at wholesale and pass on the savings to our citizens. Your cooperation enables us to continue our mission of creating a knowledge and education about the benefits of urban forestry.

I am sure many of you have heard the comment from visitors who have never been to Beaver that it represents an ideal place to live. All members of our Tree Commission and many of our enthusiastic citizens strongly affirm that the presence of trees and people living together in Beaver makes it such a unique place.

Please contact us so that we may continue our mission and with your help, we look forward to overcoming the pandemic’s temporary stoppage of our tree planting programs and a grand Arbor Day Celebration in late April, 2021.
