As we look forward to warmer weather on the horizon, it is never too early to start planning ahead when it comes to meeting the goals you set for the New Year. As a corner stone of the community, we at the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department want nothing more than to help you achieve those goals. Now is the perfect time to start preparing for the 22nd annual Beaver Volunteer Fire Department 5k/10k Race on June 1st, 2024 at 8am.
Our race is a great opportunity to prove how far you’ve come with the fitness goals you’ve set for yourself this year. Or, it’s a chance to kickstart a love for running. Whether you’re constantly getting your miles in, or your tennis shoes have been collecting dust, the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department 5k/10k Race is a great opportunity to come out and support your community while getting your steps in! Our 5k/10k route takes you through the most scenic parts of Beaver, giving you a glimpse of the gorgeous homes along the way and the Beaver River. It’s almost beautiful enough to make you forget how out of breathe you are.
The Beaver Volunteer Fire Department, with its invaluable goal “to serve and protect the property and people of this community,” was established in 1836. Station 101 runs three trucks and has over 30 members, all volunteers, covering one square mile, and providing mutual aid to our surrounding communities. We also provide assistance county wide as part of the county “strike team” for major fires, and emergencies. BVFD takes great pride in helping to protect our community’s 4500 residents, dozens of businesses, many historic homes and sprawling County Courthouse.
Last year we ran almost 200 calls, our busiest year on record. If you’re looking to give back to this wonderful community, and you want to be involved beyond running our race, we are always open to bringing on new volunteers. We ensure that our volunteers are properly trained and prepared to serve our community. Besides firefighting duties we also need volunteers to help run other functions of the department from administration activities and fundraising. If you’re interested in joining our team, please go to our Facebook page, department website or stop by the station on Monday nights 6pm to 9pm for our weekly training night and pick up an application!
