Brilliance in the Basics

Coach Marc Williams takes over the Beaver Swimming and Diving program this season and is excited about what he has inherited.  Williams takes over a team that returns a large contingent of WPIAL qualifiers from last year. “The team is bringing back a large group of upper-classmen to lead the team alongside a large group of freshman and sophomores,” says Williams. “The size of our team alone, along with having a top-tier diver gives us a great opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in the WPIAL. I will be looking to our seniors to lead the team by example and set the tone for the team.”

The Bobcats compete in WPIAL Class AA Section 2, and go against some of the top teams in the area. “We are very lucky to be a part of one of the best sections for swimming in the WPIAL. Every meet this season will bring different challenges for our team. Opponents including Blackhawk, Riverside, Hopewell, and Quaker Valley are perennial powerhouses in the WPIAL,” says Williams. “I am very optimistic about our chances in our section this season.”

In order to carve out a spot amongst these powerhouses, Coach Williams is eager to install his own training program that will build consistency while preaching “Brilliance in the Basics”.

“As a coach, details matter, and even small changes can make drastic differences in athlete and team performance. This season looks to be promising with the skills coming from each of the classes,” Williams says. “My goal is to have a balanced team where we can have swimmers competing in events from the 50 to the 500 and everything in between.”

With a talented roster, healthy numbers and a young, hungry coach, this should be an exciting year to get down to the pool and check out the Beaver Swimming and Diving team.
